This part of the Tamar is only a short walk down the hill from where I live. To
say that it was an influence on my early career would be an understatement. It is
a landscape that is almost impossibly beautiful. It teems with flora & fauna.
I have painted it on one of those late summer afternoons when there is that beguiling
stillness in the air and the river shimmers with reflections. Beyond, the stately
Crack Willow with its silvery green foliage, towers over the landscape.
A footnote to this painting. Until a year or two ago there was permitted access to
this glorious landscape. The new pheasant shooting wealthy landlord has now banned
