The title to this painting is little misleading as the river only takes a small
part in the picture and Belstone is up the hill out of sight.
The real focus of this painting are the wonderfully distorted shapes of the trees
and the luxuriant coat of mosses that shroud the granite boulders in this damp atmosphere.
